CMS CHOIR TOUR TO DUBROVNIK 5 to 9 JUNE 2016

The choir tour to Dubrovnik was very successful with beautiful weather, an excellent hotel and three good concerts at different venues.

Our group of 47 had an early start on Sunday morning from Manchester airport flying with Jet2 to Dubrovnik airport, then travelling by coach to our hotel. The rest of the day was free to relax and enjoy the hot weather, with some people making use of the hotel pool; followed by a delicious buffet meal in the evening at the hotel restaurant.

We took an interesting walking tour of Dubrovnik Old Town on Monday morning with time afterwards to look around this lovely town.

Our first concert was at St Nikolai Church in Cavtat, a 40 minute coach ride from Dubrovik along the beautiful coast road. A pretty coastal town with pavement cafes and boats moored along the front. The concert went well but with a small audience.

Tuesday saw us travelling along the coast to Kotor in Montenegro – another attractive walled town with interesting history. We had a short tour and then free time to look around and visit the good local restaurants. Our concert in beautiful St Tryphon’s Church was well attended. It was very hot, but most of our tour members really enjoyed the day.

Free time on Wednesday saw members of the group going on different excursions, many on the ferry to visit Lokrum Island, a local beauty spot. The final concert was in Dubrovnik Cathedral that evening, again well attended. Afterwards we strolled through the town to a restaurant outside the walls for a farewell meal.
Thursday was check-out day and an uneventful return journey to Manchester.

Everyone enjoyed singing the lovely music programme compiled by our conductor, Graham Jordan Ellis and our thanks go to him and our accompanist, Graham Eccles, for their efforts to ensure the concerts were such a success.

Feedback from tour members was very positive with some saying it “was the best yet”.
