Chester resident John Gough is a noted piano teacher and recitalist. Tonight he will present performances by some of his outstanding young pupils
The Programme will include:
Justine Gormley
Prokofiev: Sonata Op 28 No 3.
     Rachmaninov: Musical Moment No 4.
Justine  is currently studying with John Gough. She was a finalist in the 2019 Young Pianist of the North International Piano Competition, and has been successful in the Feis Ceoil Music Festival in Dublin. Justine has performed in various solo and chamber settings across England and Ireland, has appeared as a soloist with orchestra at the Lisbon International Youth Music Festival, Portugal, and has been interviewed and broadcast on BBC Radio Ulster.
Rufus Edwards
Chaminade: Automne, Etude de Concert No. 2 Op. 35
Debussy: Sarabande from Pour le piano
Bach: Fugue from Toccata and Fugue in E minor, BWV 914
Rufus Edwards is currently working towards an ABRSM diploma. He started learning to play the piano at the age of five and enjoys all aspects of music today, also playing the clarinet and singing in the Wrexham County Youth Choir. Last year he won the Blue Riband prize at the National Eisteddfod, and he regularly competes and performs elsewhere.
Felix Gideonse
     Alberto Ginastera: Danzas Argentinas 1, 2 & 3
     Debussy: Reflets Dans L’eau.
Felix Gideonse has been studying with John Gough for the past three years as a student at JRNCM. He has been taking a year out of education and has spent the year working towards taking an LRSM, for which he had planned to take the exam this Summer. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, this has been postponed, however he still hopes to be able to take at it at some time in the future. In October Felix will start studying for a degree in Mathematics at Imperial College London and he is enthusiastic to remain heavily involved with music whilst he is there.
As well as playing the piano, Felix is an experienced singer and organist. He sang as a chorister with Chester Cathedral choir and singing at the Cathedral inspired him to study organ. He now is the organ scholar at St John the Baptist’s church, Chester.
Matthew Lau
Rachmaninov: Variations on a theme of Corelli.
Originally from Manchester, Matthew auditioned and secured a place at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music, learning the piano with John Gough and second study cello with Clare Rowe. He is now a second-year pianist at the RNCM studying on the BMus Intensive pathway, continuing under the tutorship of John Gough.
